Shoot for the Stars

Shoot for the Stars, a program of Sampson and Friends will take place July 16th - 18th 2010.  This event will help to enhance the lives of individuals with an autism spectrum disorder.  Shoot for the Stars will show you the impact a horse can have on a child whose lives, limbs and language are limited. 

The 2010 Shoot for the Stars will bring you the top cowboys and cowgirls competing today.  Come out and watch as these cowboys and cowgirls run for autism awareness.  Competitors and members of Panhandle Autism Society will team up for extra cash and prizes. 

Directly following the event kids and family members will be invited to join in and experience the joy of horseback riding.  Therapeutic riding has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination and motor development, and in addition improves physical, psychological, social and cognitive well-being.With therapeutic riding; an individual learning to walk can experience three dimensional movement of ambulation.  This experience is hard to duplicate in the clinical setting.

-More children will be diagnosed with autism this year that with AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined

-Equine therapy can provide a freedom to a disabled child that many riders that never experience
