I was talking with Sampson and Goliath the other day. They were most interseted in how we humans are reacting to the economic crisis. They see a lot of fear, worry and despair right now. They have their own concern regarding the number of animals being abandoned.
What was on interest to me was their take on "crisis". Goliath said that "crisis" and "opportunity" are two sides of the same coin. Sampson wondered if more humans would take this financial crisis as an opportunity to change their values and lifestyle. "You humans could take a fresh look at the cultural values that you have bought into." Maybe you don't need to be a good corporate soldier and buy and consume everything they tell you to. Maybe the results of all this excessive greed has proven that going after wealth, fame, power and glory, at any cost, is just one choice, not THEE choice. When is enough, enough? Maybe you can be too rich, too thin, and too famous.
Both Sampson and Goliath thought that we humans could take this opportunity to live a more simpler and gentler life. We could get along with less, take more time for ourselves and or families, figure out what we want to be and do. Maybe fewer animals would be abandoned this way, and people would help each other more.
I think there is a lot to be said for "horse sense", but that's coming from someone who talks to horses!
If you think this might be a time to consider change and growth, give Sampson or Goliath a call at (208)772-4357 and ask about their well-being program.
